Grilled Basil and Lime Tilapia

This is a grilled tilapia recipe, which is wonderfully flavored with lime and bourbon to produce a unique and flavorful grilled tilapia fish dish. The fish is simply marinated and grilled, served with plenty of sauce. This is a fragrant, tasty tilapia recipe and is very nice served with plain boiled rice.

Tilapia is mild in flavor and you can substitute flounder in this grilled tilapia recipe if you wish because they share a similar texture and taste. This is a simple grilled tilapia dish but it is very different because of the bourbon. Bourbon has a sweet flavor and lime is tangy. The two combine wonderfully with the fish.

Ingredients -
 
4 tilapia fillets
2 tablespoons lime juice
4 tablespoons olive oil
Zest of 2 limes
1 teaspoon fresh basil finely chopped
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons bourbon
Pepper to taste
 
Preparation:
 

Put all the ingredients except the fish in a resealable plastic bag and shake well to combine. Add the tilapia. Seal and place in the refrigerator for half an hour.

Preheat the grill to a high heat.

Pour the marinade into a saucepan and bring to a low boil. Remove the pan from the heat. Grill the fish for about 3 minutes per side. When the fish turns opaque, remove it from the grill and serve it with the marinade drizzled over the top.
